Capturing precious moments with baby photography is a magical experience. The joy and innocence of a newborn or infant can be forever preserved in the form of beautiful photographs. With the right tips and tricks, parents can make sure that their baby photography session turns out to be an unforgettable experience.
By following just a few simple tips and tricks, you can ensure that your baby’s first photo shoot is one that you'll cherish forever!
Before the Session:
Make sure you have not arranged pediatric shots less than 7 days before your session.
Select your outfits and be sure to try them on! Make sure they fit well and to your liking. Hint: too small is better than too big.
Iron/Steam your outfits to make sure they are camera ready.
Try your best to make the day of your session as stress-free for you as possible. Clear some extra time around the session to ensure you can arrive to the studio relaxed. Relaxed parents = relaxed babies.
Day of the Session:
One the most important things you can do to encourage a great session is to have a well feed and well rested baby. Making sure they have had their nap and a snack/bottle before arriving, is essential.
Feed your baby before the session. Even though it's mentioned above, it’s worth repeating. That may even mean topping off baby with a bottle at the studio before starting. Hungry babies don’t photograph well. (The same can be said about adults too.)
Make sure they get their nap - the last thing you want is a grumpy baby.
Clean face and hands! This is huge! Please clean their noses, face and hands prior to coming to the studio. I keep plenty of baby wipes at the studio but if you prefer your own drool cloths, please bring them with you.
